Life Lately

Hello!  Happy Monday y'all!  Did you survive the weekend?  Anything fun and exciting?  We finished up our Christmas shopping and had dinner at one of our local favorites.  We're full steam ahead with Christmas in our sights.  I've got a week left at work before break and Friday cannot come soon enough.  #i'mtiredy'all

Here's a peek into what we've been up to this week...

This was my outfit on Monday for a meeting in Austin.  I love a tweed skirt in the cooler weather, don't you?  This particular skirt is years old (seriously, it might be ten years old and I held onto it all those years I was too heavy to wear it) so I've linked to a similar one.  The meeting was great, I got to see some colleagues that I like working with and was home around dinner time.  All in all, not a bad Monday.

Tuesday I wanted something a little slouchy and loose and I love how this look came together.  The sweater is older, from Banana republic, but I hardly got to wear any of my sweaters last years due to the unseasonably warm winter we had here in Texas.  I linked to a similar sweater so you can recreate the look.  It was an easy, put-together look for a more relaxed day at the office.

And then Tuesday night I was at Urgent Care.  Cough, cough, cough = bronchitis.  So armed with cough syrup with codeine, some steroids for the inflammation, and an antibiotic for the ear infection (???), I headed home.

Where I promptly curled up on the couch to sleep.  Kate kept me company.  We were both pretty pathetic Tuesday night.

Wednesday night was for homework.  I had a couple of discussion posts I needed to respond to.  My class is going well.  It's almost done then I get a few weeks off before I jump into the second 8 weeks of the semester.

And the cooler weather has officially arrived!  I have been reveling in it.  I do so love when the temps dip down.  There's nothing like curling up on the couch under a cozy blanket with a mug of hot chocolate.  Right?

Friday was feeling like a rose gold kind of day.  I love this Stella & Dot bracelet.  So pretty!

Friday was our holiday potluck at work so I pulled out my ugly cute Christmas sweater.  And my new booties.  I am in love with these.  I had been eyeing them for awhile and finally pulled the trigger and I am so glad I did.  They fit perfectly, I found they ran true to size for me.  I wore them all day and then the next day too.  Love Love Love.

I love a good puffer vest.  I currently have three.  This red one which has been in constant rotation lately, an ivory one, and a tweed one.  They are perfect for layering, especially in this crazy Texas weather when it's 45 degrees at nine am and by 12pm it's 65.

At our holiday pot luck we did a sock exchange and I ended up with the disco santas.  I love these socks.  How cute are they?

On to the Christmas wrapping!  I had to do it surreptitiously while Phillip was out of the house.

Saturday we did our usual plus some extra.  We wrapped up Christmas shopping and ran a few errands before hitting up the grocery store for our weekly trip.  We menu plan so we know what we're going to be eating every night.  It prevents us from being indecisive and going out to eat instead.

Saturday afternoon I had plans to take a nap.  This one curled up on the bed with me and fell into a deep, deep sleep.

So deep she was snoring.  Snoring to wake the dead she was.  So, yeah, my nap wasn't as restful as I was hoping for.  Do any of you have cats who snore???  #shesluckyshessocute

Saturday night we hit up our favorite local pizza place, I Fratelli.  If you're local to Texas, you may know them as a pizza delivery place.  However, they have a restaurant and wine bar in Las Colinas and we love going there for our pizza fix. They have the best thin crust pizza.

Sunday was somewhat low key.  Some house cleaning, some baking.  I made mini banana breads for my staff.  It's always a crowd favorite so for Christmas this year I decided to give them each a mini loaf.  So X+Y = 36 mini loaves...

Sunday afternoon was a little quieter.  Some football, some homework, and a pretty Christmas tree in the background.

This was my own concoction that I am loving right now - 1oz fireball whiskey, diet ginger ale, and a splash of grenadine.  It tastes like an atomic fireball.  So so good.

ps - the nail polish is With the Band by Essie

She just likes to chill out in here.  Now that she has been released from the soft collar she has been curling up in here most nights.

And finally it was back to barre!  I had serious barre withdrawal.  I hadn't been in a week.  And I know I'm going to feel it.  I missed it but I also needed to listen to my body and my body was saying rest!

I hope you enjoyed this week's peek into our life.  Come back on Wednesday for this month's Stranded!  We're talking Christmas movies!!!
